CAD News... Large and Small
So...How Am I Really?

Last November I broke my collarbone from a spill off my horse...then in February I had surgery on my foot to repair some blown-out joints....months later I still get emails asking me, "how are you?"

I am completely recovered from both the surgery and the broken collarbone (I am a fast healer). I am riding 2-3 times a week on my steady red pony, Laertes; playing softball once a week in a women's recreational league; and running dog agility courses with my border collie at least once a week.

I still have to drop the weight I gained while I was recuperating, but Passover is usually the start of my diet season...I lose an easy 10 pounds on the Passover diet. If you ever want to lose quickly, I highly recommend it...nothing that is not kosher for Passover...including meats, cheese, and dairy. I end up spending eight days munching on fruits and veggies because it is less expensive than the packaged stuff from the kosher grocery and tastes better. This year was even easier because I was remodelling my kitchen just before...which meant I had already thrown out or removed all non-Passover food from the house.

Last Week's TwoFer

Last Friday, subscribers got TWO CADzette issues instead of the usual one. My apologies to those people who thought I was spamming them...and if you thought the emails were identical issues and deleted one...well, the joke's on you! They were completely different content.

I try to work on 2-3 issues of CADzette in any week. I usually have one ready to be sent out for the coming Friday. One that is in progress, maybe just needs some additional links or one more article, and one that is about half full.

On a good month, I might have as many as three ready to go on three consecutive Fridays...I try to do this when I know I am going to be traveling or working on a serious project. In this case, I mis-set the to-be-emailed-date on one of the issues and, voila, double issues!

Since we are approaching the end of my second year publishing this ezine, consider it your special bonus (along with the free lisp routines, tutorials, downloads, and other goodies) for being loyal readers.

Autodesk Hits the Road

If you haven't seen the latest 2006 fleet of products coming off the Autodesk line, you certainly will have an opportunity when Autodesk takes it's show on the road with appearances in San Francisco, New York, Toronto, etc.

Guy Kawasaki will be emceeing the road show presentations. Kawasaki was one of the original Apple Computer employees responsible for marketing of the Macintosh in 1984. He is noted for bringing the concept of evangelism to the high-tech business. Kawasaki was a former Apple Fellow, and after leaving the company, became CEO of a pseudo- spinoff of Apple's called ACIUS, which produced the 4th Dimension database program.

He is currently CEO of Garage Technology Ventures (garage.com), which helps high-technology startup firms in Silicon Valley, California. I have a garage.com t-shirt in my collection...find out if Kawasaki is giving out garage.com t-shirts and if he is, try to get one because they are pretty nifty.
