Dear Elise,
This issue marks the release of Autodesk's 2009 software. This is an exciting time for resellers, educators, and users as they try to figure out what's new, what's changed, and what's no longer there.
Hopefully, I can help act as your guide and ease some of the pain. |
| Installing the Express Tools |
|
Like prior releases, express tools are NOT automatically installed when you install AutoCAD or any of the AutoCAD verticals.
To install the express tools, select 'Configure', then select the 'Custom' option, then place a checkmark next to the Express Tools box.
If your IT guy did the install or you forgot, it's OK. Go back thru your control panel and add them in.
You can also type EXPRESSTOOLS on your command line and that should install and launch the expresstools. |
| Upgrading AutoCAD Architecture |
|
|
The 2009 release of AutoCAD Architecture requires that any drawings be saved in 2007 format. If you open a down-rev file, a dialog will appear advising that the file is going to be saved in the new format.
If a previous version drawing is opened by double-clicking the file in Windows Explorer, this dialog may be hidden behind the drawing making AutoCAD Architecture 2008 appear to have hung; clicking anywhere on the application to give it focus will make the dialog come to the foreground.
