The New Scale List Edit Dialog

This new dialog in AutoCAD 2006 will be a welcome
feature, especially for architects.
Just type 'scalelistedit'. You can add, delete, or
change the order of scales listed that you would apply
to viewports.
This feature has been on folk's wish lists for years.

Greetings!
Aloha from beautiful Hawaii! I spent this week on
vacation with my good friend, Priscilla Mills. Priscilla & I
have known each other for over a decade and we
enjoy each other's company immensely. When my
husband decided to take a two week trip to Israel with
a group of Torah scholars, it was a no-brainer to plan a
trip to Hawaii with Priscilla.
As my brother, Steven, remarked, "So, one of you
decided to go to the Holy Land and the other decided
to go to Israel."

The new Auto-Complete Command in 2006
Try this new feature in AutoCAD 2006. Type in the
first one or two letters of a command and then press
the tab key, press the tab key again, and again..
AutoCAD will go down the list of all the commands
starting with those letters. Very cool!

Losing the Command Line in AutoCAD 2006
Beth Powell talked about how she turned off her
command window and relied solely on the new dynamic
input for a class she recently taught on a recent blog.
Now, I have been using AutoCAD Since The Age of
DOS. Back in the day, there was a dorky screen menu
on the right side of the screen and NO TOOLBARS. So,
to say I am an old-time AutoCAD user would be an
understatement.
Gritting my teeth, and using two hands, I forced myself
to close the command window, turned on the dynamic
input and took my AutoCAD 2006 out for a spin. First
off, my world did not end. Secondly, I found out I like
the extra real estate. Thirdly, I worked faster because
I wasn't reading all the command prompt data....all the
information I needed was at the end of my cursor.
That said, I will probably turn the command window
back on when I am testing lisp routines, but other than
that, I am going to be saying bye-bye to the command
window...it is going the way of that old screen menu.

Trying on Buzzsaw for Size
The company where I am needed a way to collaborate
with engineers and customers in remote locations.
Naturally, I thought of Buzzsaw as the perfect solution.
Spencer Adams came out from Autodesk and gave a
dynamite presentation. We set up a pilot site for the
company to try out and see how they like it. For 30
days, anybody can set up a Buzzsaw site good for up 1
GB of data and 50 users. Even better, every Thursday
Autodesk provides free training to help you learn how
to use the site.
So, I set up my laptop in the company conference
room, logged into the training center, put on the
speaker phone, and invited in my engineering and sales
team to learn how to use Buzzsaw. Reaction was
overwhelmingly positive...not an easy thing when you
are talking about engineers.
The sales team wants to use Buzzsaw to replace their
weekly webex meetings. They figure that alone will
save the company thousands of dollars. I uploaded a
blank white AutoCAD drawing that they can use for
their white board.

Assigning Accelerator Keys In AutoCAD 2006
At the command line, CUI, Upper left window, expand
the KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS,
under that find SHORTCUT KEYS.... they won't work in
a partial cui, I
recommend that you place them in the main cui as
some folks have had issues
in the Enterprise. If your ACAD.cui is not your main cui,
use the transfer
tab to copy them over to the main cui.
