Randall Rath, Where Are You?
Randall Rath, a winner of the CAD Society Award in
2004 for his Community Service, founder of VBNet and
CADVault, has disappeared....or rather his websites
have.
Randall has been an extremely active member of
the 'Desker community, providing free VB code, tech
support, and a helping hand to anybody who needs it
when it comes to Visual Basic. An all-around nice guy,
it's hard to believe that he (and his websites) have
gone poof.

Revit 8 Dumps PDF Writer
Revit users have enjoyed a free PDF Writer with their
product....until now. The latest release of Revit
eliminates the PDF Writer. Users will be dismayed to
find that they are now in the same club as all other
Autodesk users - you can DWF or go buy Adobe Writer
(or another PDF Publishing software.)
Veterans know that Revit started out as an
independent product - it did not originate with
Autodesk. Back then, Revit came with the PDF writer,
so users could create PDF files with no problems.
Then, Autodesk acquired Revit. Users were told that
the Revit product would only have features added, no
features would be deleted.
Now, with Revit R8's release, the Autodeskization of
Revit is taken one step further....the free PDF Writer is
no more. Does this make sense? Not when a frequent
request from users is the ability to create PDFs of
drawing files. So, Revit users with a lower version than
8 may want to think hard before they upgrade...or hold
on to your Revit PDF Writer drivers.

New View Option Introduced in Revit R8
Revit R8 has added a new view option - Zoom to Sheet
Size. It can also be accessed by typing 'ZS'. This
would be useful in AutoCAD as well to allow you to just
view the layout sheet.

Blow up any Image to Poster-Size or Larger!
The Rasterbator is a web service which creates huge,
rasterized images from any picture. The rasterized
images can be printed and assembled into extremely
cool looking posters up to 20 meters in size.
What's the Catch? Well, it's FREE!!!! Not only that,
you can download their software for FREE and
rasterbate any image you like on your own work station.
This is perfect, if you have site plans, maps, large
facilities, etc.

Swap Line Endpoints
Brian Schnautz emailed me asking for a lisp routine that
swaps the endpoints of lines. This routine comes in
especially handy if you have created custom line types
with symbols or letters in them. Keep in mind AutoCAD
assumes you draw lines from left to right. If you draw
a line from right to left, the letters in the custom line
type will be upside down or backwards.
Took me a few minutes, but I was able to write the
code for Brian (and for you.) Only works for lines,
nothing else.
As always, the code is open, so you can modify it for
your own use, if needed.
