Image mapping is used to project a 2D image onto
the face of a 3D object. It can be used for
billboards, signs, television sets, monitors, etc. Any
image file can be used.
Use image mapping to create more realistic renderings. I have written a tutorial to walk you through how to map an image onto a 3D object to create a more realistic scene. |

Sean Dotson emailed regarding the previous article on
cell phone telemarketing. He felt I had not made it
clear that cell phone numbers were not being
released to telemarketers. I thought I had, but to
clarify the previous article:

Protomold asked their customers which 3D CAD
software they used to create their injected plastic
mold designs. In 2003 & 2004, SolidWorks led the
pack with almost 40% of the users stating SolidWorks
was their software of choice.
Autodesk Inventor showed slight gains from 2003 to 2004, but lags far behind with less than 10% of the plastics designers using Inventor. So, why does Autodesk continue to maintain that Inventor leads Solidworks in sales? Keep in mind that both software packages are used for alot more than simply plastics design....but Autodesk still is going to have to work harder to convince plastic designers to switch over to their software. |
