Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans! For those subscribers in other countries, Thanksgiving is a day when American families get together to watch football and eat a feast, giving thanks for all the bounty in their lives.
Autodesk University in Las Vegas next week

I won't be at AU this year, but that won't stop 3,000+ eager 'deskers from descending on Vegas and having a jolly good time. Shaan Hurley reports in his blog that next year's AU will be on the east coast. If that pans out...I will definitely go, as I have pretty much have had my fill of Vegas and needed to take a break from the City of Sin.

My next trip is set for the end of December...my husband & I plan a 10-day driving tour of New Mexico and Colorado- visiting Alberquerque, Santa Fe, Durango, and Canon City. We are on a quest to locate the perfect property for a horse ranch. We want to go in December to see if we will be able to tolerate the winter weather in those areas.

The next trip after that will be in March for NDES in Chicago, followed by a trip in May to the British Isles.

A reminder that AU is the deadline for interested parties to submit as a candidate for the AUGI Board of Directors. If you are an avid 'desker and have experience with AUGI, this is your chance to make a difference. The position doesn't pay, but you do get two free trips to AU, plus two free trips to Autodesk HQ in sunny Northern California (pack a sweater, it can be nippy, even in the summer). Board members get to meet key Autodesk people and really impact on how products are developed, plus they help users - which is really what it is all about.

Creating Custom Toolbars in AutoCAD 2005

The Customize Dialog has changed considerably in 2005, but users' desire to create custom toolbars has not. Some people have adopted the tool palette, but there are those of us who like the toolbar's compact size and easy-going nature.

To help those users, feel free to download a free tutorial on how to create your own custom toolbars in AutoCAD2005.

Creating Property Filters in AutoCAD 2005

The Layer Manager has changed so much in AutoCAD 2005. If you are feeling a little lost and overwhelmed, download my latest tutorial on how to create a Property filter.
