Revit 7 Hits the Streets
I must have blinked because Autodesk released Revit 7
and I didn't even realize it.
A PDFWriter still comes with Revit 7.0. Revit is the only
Autodesk product I know that includes the ability to
print to PDF. It is listed under Installation Extras (along
with the DWF Writer).
If you are looking to save disk space, you can opt not
to have the catalog included with the installation, but I
recommend that you go ahead and install the content.
Revit comes with a rich library of doors, windows, and
other AEC objects.

Is the Job Market Heating Up Again?
When I talk to out-of-work mechanical engineers and
drafters, I get the impression that the job market
remains sluggish.
However, a couple of weekends ago, I was cleaning my
tack at the ranch where I board (too wet to ride) and a
woman came
by who works for Pro-Source, a job placement company
here in Silicon Valley. She was tickled to meet a
mechanical engineer who actually rides. (hey, cowboys
are everywhere...we're sneaky that way.)
She told me that she has more job openings than
applicants right now for mechanical engineering and
drafting jobs. I got her card and contact info. So, if
you are looking for work, give her a call or email:
Joanna Holton, (408) 748-0800 or email
joannah@prosourceinc.com

Mecsoft vs. Mechsoft
Bill Bogan, faithful reader, writes:
You have a misspelling in this edition (dated 10/14/04)
and it could lead to some confusion if people aren't
alert.
The link you provide to MecSoft is spelled as MechSoft
(a company Autodesk recently purchased parts of).
MecSoft is a CAM company that you correctly describe
and link to.
Holy Dictionary! Bill, of course, is absolutely correct
and I apologize for any confusion caused by my error.
I believe many of us have put together lists of tech
software and companies that have similar names. Is it
to confuse the customer or to stump and annoy folk
like me?

Viewport Tip
Jeremiah McKnelly emailed in this tip:
If you double-click in your viewport, it will automatically
switch to Maximize Viewport mode. This means that it
will automatically have that viewport fill the screen for
you.
