Lock a Layer with VBA |
 |
|
Four different events could be used to keep a layer
locked. Below is a VBA example
that keeps a layer named "Layer1" locked. The
EndCommand locks Layer1 if the
layer command was run. The ObjectModified changes a
global flag to true when
the Toolbar is used to unlock the layer. When a
command is started the BeginCommand
checks this flag and locks the layer. The
SelectionChanged event checks this
flag and locks the layer when an entity is selected.
To test this example, download the code from the link
below. Then, copy it into the ThisDrawing module in
the VBA editor

Win an iPod! |
 |
|
Autodesk is holding a drawing to give a free iPod to all
those who download their DWF Viewer. Heck, I'd
download it just for the shot at the iPod...don't need to
install it.
With Autodesk Express Viewer, a small, free,
downloadable application, you can view and print DWF
files. What you see is exactly what the designer
intended, because the information cannot be changed.

MYSTERY'S SWEET SOLUTION |
 |
|
It's a question important to shippers, merchants and
experts in packaging: What shape allows you to pack
the most objects in a container?
The answer: M&Ms.
A research team led by mathematician Aleksander
Donev at Princeton University found that M&Ms (oblate
spheroids, in their language) can be packed much more
densely than ball bearings.
The result, according to commentary by David Weitz of
Harvard University, ``explains why eating M&Ms for
lunch one by one always takes longer than eating a bag
of spherical candies of the same total volume.''

Creating Chinese MTEXT with VBA |
 |
|
The problem in creating Chinese text is with the text
style associated with the default MTEXT setting.
Changing only the True Font in the Characters drop
down box (in the MTEXT dialog)
doesn't help in this case. We should make sure that
there is at least one text
style that can display Chinese properly. To make that
happen, create
a new text style with Style command, use big font by
enabling the Big Font check
box in the Text Style dialog, choose gbcbig.shx for
Simplified Chinese or Chinese.shx
for Traditional Chinese, last save the style definition
and close the dialog.
